Curiosity

Touchdown never sounded so good!

We watched and waited like so many other Americans on NASA tube.  We've seen the animated video and we've tracked on eyes in the sky for the rover.

I didn't dare believe it until the first thumbnail came in.  When it did I knew that little VW bug had a life of its own--a soul.  It was like Curiosity sent a picture saying, "I'm okay!  See, feet on the ground!"

"Curiosity" captured me by its name.  It's the rover that embodies human nature. This rover has but one duty, one objective.  To explore Mars.  It gets to spend it's whole life wandering around, collect samples and report back.

It could get lonely, but I know of one other rover still alive on Mars.  It would not surprise me if they were seen hanging out.

Everyone who worked on the rover did a miraculous job.  We could get spoiled by NASA's perfection but this was a multilayer process where everyone labored over and thoroughly thought out.  It took combined effort to get this machine to Mars.  NASA is proud of their job and the feat they overcame to get the largest rover ever built safely to another planet.  We are proud of them.

Synopsis--The Real Reason Why I Want To Self-Publish

Sin-op-sus -- any word with "sin" as the first syllable makes me think I'm doing it wrong.

Seriously your publisher NEEDS this!  Your agents NEEDS this!  They can be up to 12 pages.  I've seen one that's 32 pages long.  That's like a novella.

Why can't you jot a paragraph for the Synopsis?  Actually that's a query.  Besides, demon meets girl and falls in love doesn't quite get the mood of a book.  How do they fall in love?  What's the struggle?  Can a demon fall in love?  And what's wrong with her to love him back?

Those are the kinds of questions you might be asked.  But instead of a blow by blow it might help to give a two page summary of your book.

Keep in mind the pinnacle points.  You know, Act 1, Act 2 and Act 3.  Okay tangent time--I truly believe that a book can have more than 3 Acts, but that's for a later discussion.

What happens in each Act of your book?  What is the inciting incident?  Aside from that what is the struggle, how does the MC cope?  What does the MC learn?  Who helps the MC realize they are being a dick/their struggle is founded.  What makes them keep going, what internal insight does the MC finally reach?

That's a synopsis.  I'd read that novella!  I just don't want to write it!  Go ahead, call me a coward...(but there actually is a more serious reason as to why I'm going Indie.  That I'll share with you later.)

Nose Droppings Guide On How To Make A Great Review (Of A Book)

I've sometimes read a book, wanted to say something about it, but then I was like, what am I going to say?  So I have these questions I answer.  I don't always go by the formula but it helps when I'm stuck!  It's easy.  See questions below and answer them!

 1) Who are the main characters and what is their struggle?

2) What line/scene was most memorable about the book?

3) How did the book make me feel or what reflections did I gain?

4) Was this a leisurely read or did it have significant meaning/what was it?

5) What was the deciding factor to buy/read the book?

All A Guy Wants Is...

I use to believe that guys only wanted from women was sex.  When I ask certain questions, ones that pry deep into ones psychology , I sometimes come against this shield.  Believe me, the age old saying that men just want sex is a shield.

Yes, it's true guys want it but most men secretly desire more.

Men are amazing because in their deep core they know what they want.  The problem is getting to that core and understanding their needs.  A great woman can help them find their purpose or define it to greater depth but not dig for it then present it to the guy.  A great woman knows she is a catalyst, not a purpose.

Conversely, women  don't know what they want and have to examine everything before they actually understand what they want.  A great man can show her.  A great man understands he can show and tell her but it's up to her to see and listen.

I understand the need to be understood but at the same time it's frightening when someone understands you because that means they have a way to manipulate you.

So many people are frightened when someone understands them too much.  You feel exposed and instead of basking in the sunlight nude, you cover yourself and jump for a bush. This is what I'm talking about when I say men throw up the sex shield.

There are women who know this is half true and half smoke screen.  Others believe the only thing a guy wants is...

If that were true, men would never marry.  They'd be on the prowl or pay for it.  A great woman knows that she brings the answer to a guy asking, "Why am I doing this?"  She observes his life and is his cheerleader, confidant, moral booster, ice queen and yes--sex slave.

A great woman knows a guy goes with his gut and doesn't know the words for what he's feeling.  She uses intuition to read the words behind the meaning and knows when there is no other meaning in the words.  She understands the difference between, "Hey baby invite me upstairs." (I only want sex) and "I'd like to see you again." (I'm kinna interested in where this goes!)

So when you think men only want sex, know your only half right.

Not A Vacation Day

No new posts.  I'm still pouting over my cousins departure.  I'll write again when I feel like it.  *Proceeding to temper tantrum*
